People on this river - white people, I should be clear - sure loved them some Zebulon Pike. I already knew about PIKE Island at the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota rivers, just on the south side of Minneapolis. But there's also a Zebulon Pike lake below Little Falls, and various other things named for the guy. This is a mural in his honor in Louisville, Missouri, in a place where it almost feels like a contest over who likes old Zebulon more. This is a place where Pike County, Missouri, faces off across the river against Pike Councy, Illinois.
