confluences - the Turkey River

The Turkey River joins with the Mississippi just above Cassville, but from the Iowa side. (Cassville is on the Wisconsin side.) I didn't notice any significant change to the Miss from this confluence.
Interestingly, the Cassville Ferry connects people across the Mississippi to a landing just below the Turkey confluence, and named for it. But there is no settlement I could see here on the Iowa side.
